BIOGRAPHY: THE REVEREND ALICE MARCRUM |
 Alice is an orthodox priest focusing on bringing the Word to people of all walks of life. She is especially gifted in preaching, pastoral care and healing ministry. Her ministry for the Lord has taken her from the soup kitchens of Chicago to the remote mountain villages of Uganda. Wherever she has gone, she has shared the love of God for all . As Rector she has opened the doors of Saint Raphael's Church to be a place of radical hospitality and healing.
The Holy Spirit led Pastor Alice on an ecumenical spiritual journey that brought her to the Episcopal Church over 25 years ago. It was there, in the beautiful and meaning filled Anglican liturgy, that Pastor Alice felt she could best serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. As a member of the Episcopal Church, Pastor Alice was called by the community of believers to serve in ordained ministry as a priest. Prior to her call to Saint Raphael's, she served the Church as a transitional deacon at St. James Cathedral in Chicago, the Vicar of St. Dunstan's in Chicago; as Assistant Priest of St. James the Less in North Brook, IL; as Assistant Rector at St. John's in Naperville, IL; and as Associate Pastor at Church of the Resurrection in West Chicago, IL. She has a BA in Theater and English from Florida State University, and a Master of Divinity from Seabury-Western Seminary. You can e-mail Alice at revalice@saint-raphaels.org or amarcrum@aol.com
Pastor Alice and her husband, Jim, have three children. Their older daughter Monica is married to Gary Bosch and lives in Cleveland, Ohio. They had their first child, Michael Joseph, on April 22, 2008. Their son Alex lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with their other four grandchildren (Jack, Harry, Maggie and Teddi). Their youngest, Jessica, completed her undergraduate degree at Oberlin Conservatory of Music in vocal performance & is now continuing her studies at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Even though both Pastor Alice and Jim have busy schedules, they enjoy playing golf, dining out & going to movies together whenever they can.
